Research Interests

Current Research Program

I am interested in both speech perception and production. In recent years, I have been involved in research addressing the kinds of linguistic information used by the perceptual system during recognition (e.g., syllabic and morphological information). This research has also addressed when these different types of information are used during recognition. In years past, I studied the speech production of brain damaged patients (i.e., aphasic patients) in an effort to understand how normal and damaged speech production systems operate. For my dissertation work, I investigated whether certain types of linguistic information (e.g., vowel length, lexical and metrical stress) are used during the process of segmenting words from continuous speech.
